1. District recognitions
The Minnesota Special Education Transportation Committee, in cooperation with the Minnesota Association for Pupil Transportation as well as Minnesota Department of Education recognize the top three school bus drivers and transportation assistants serving Minnesota students with special needs. Brainerd has the second place driver.
Megan Owens, 2005 BHS Graduate, is going to the Division III National Golf Tournament in Port St. Lucie, as a member of the St. Thomas girl's golf team.

Parent Partnership Project Retreat grant approved for $1,500.
Heather Klever, special education teacher at AEC, was awarded the College Access grant, which is a very special recognition plus offers relief from her own college loans.
Jeff Johnson, Warrior Workers, was awarded $ 1,500 from Crow Wing Power Community Trust for Operation Round Up which will support the summer youth warrior workers program which is in collaboration with Rural MNCEP.
The Brainerd Lakes Area Community Foundation on April 17 announced that the Nisswa Community Children's Library was awarded $3,500 to continue summer library programming for an eighth and ninth year.
