River to lead Missions Fest weekend at CCC
NISSWA - The music group River will lead worship and perform at Christ Community Church's 10:15 a.m. May 17 worship service during its Missions Fest weekend.
River is a nationally known touring group that has released 10 recordings including their latest, "Caught Up In You." A concert with River is filled with songs, stories and worship. Since 1997, River has been one of the most played artists on Christian radio with 15 singles climbing into the Top 20 on national Inspirational charts including "I Will," "My Love" and "God of Every Generation." Kurt Linn, Paul Marino and Phil Reesnes formed River in 1989.
River will also perform at 6:30 p.m. May 17 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hackensack as well as 6 p.m. May 18 at Salem Lutheran Church in Longville.
Christ Community Church's Missions Fest weekend will begin with a potluck dinner from 5-8 p.m. May 17 at Pastor Dave and Julie Uhrich's home in Nisswa.
During the 9 a.m. adult education hour on May 18, booths will be set up so people can get to know the missionaries Christ Community Church supports. At the May 18 10:15 a.m. worship service, the church will have a Shepherd Sunday, which is a congregational interactive service and more laid back. Immediately following the service, there will be a luncheon.

Pasty dinner planned
PEQUOT LAKES - The members of Grace United Methodist Church of Pequot Lakes will have an all-you-can-eat pasty dinner from 5-7 p.m. May 16.
Cost for adults is $6; ages 6-12 years is $3 and 5 years and younger are free. Reservations are not necessary, just pay at the door. Take out meals available for shut-ins. Fresh frozen pasties are available in almost any quantity for $4.
Guest speaker scheduled
The Brainerd Laestadian Lutheran Church will have a guest speaker, Darwin Lake, from Menahga, for the 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sunday worship services. A noon meal will be served in the church dining room.
Park United Methodist Seniors
Park United Methodist Seniors will be meeting at noon May 19 in the fellowship hall for a luncheon featuring Brazilian foods. Wilma Roberts will be speaking at the luncheon describing her years working with the UMC Board of General Missions in Brazil. Roberts is a retired missionary, a retired diaconal minister of the Minnesota Conference of the UMC and a member of Park UMC.

Scandinavian dinner, music at First Lutheran
PILLAGER - A Scandinavian dinner and concert will be held at the Pillager First Lutheran Church at 7 p.m. May 16. Following the dinner, music will be provided by Skalmusik, the internationally renowned Scandinavian orchestra.

Men of Rejoice Lutheran to service community
The men's group at Rejoice Lutheran is preparing and serving dinner at the Lakes Area Senior Activity Center in Brainerd to help raise funds for the center's ongoing activities for senior citizens. A wild game meatball dinner is planned for 5 p.m. Monday at center. The dinner is open to the public. Cost is $7 per person. Call the center at 829-9345 to reserve a dinner by Friday.

St. John's Episcopal Church
AITKIN - St. John's Episcopal Church welcomes the Rev. Karl E. Bell, who will officiate services Sunday mornings at 9 a.m. The Rev. John Willms will celebrate Eucharist on the second Sunday of each month and Bell will celebrate on the other Sundays of the month.
Bell has served congregations in Europe and South America as well as in the continental United States. Most recently, he has been serving an English-speaking congregation in Venezuela. He is a resident of Fifty Lakes.
