CROSBY -- The Crosby-Ironton Senior Citizens Club will hold its monthly meeting and potluck at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the Cuyuna Range Community Center, Crosby.
Those coming are reminded to bring their own dishes, silver and something to pass. Coffee will be provided. Hosting will be Art and Vi Bodle.
Following the business meeting and the meal, Duane Swanson, Deerwood, will entertain with accordion music.
All area senior citizens are welcome and invited to join the club. Annual dues are $1.
Mille Lacs Lions raise scholarship money
GARRISON -- The Mille Lacs Lake Lions Club presented its 20th Fashion Show on April 30 at the Blue Goose Inn in Garrison.
The president, June Roiger, welcomed members and guests and gave the invocation. Georjann Deutsch, event chairperson, served as mistress of ceremonies assisted by Betty O'Neil, co-chairperson.
Lions, their spouses, friends and families served as models with clothes exclusively by Herberger's store in Brainerd. Valerie Miller and Carol Carlson were coordinators.
The fashions shown included casual, semi-casual and dressy, all suited to the lakes area lifestyle.
The three $100 Herberger's shopping spree winners were Gen Ostendorf, Lee Ann Leary and Bonny Polly. Paul Wagner won the quilt the workshop ladies made.
In 1981, the first scholarship for $400 was presented. Now, the club looks forward to some day increasing the scholarship number and/or the amount. Proceeds from the fashion show are used for three non-traditional scholarships.
Deep Portage lists summer programs
HACKENSACK -- Deep Portage Conservation Reserve will offer the following programs on Saturdays during the summer.
June 16 -- Master Gardener David Moe will conduct a Wildflower Walk.
July 14 -- Ron Skeesick will present his program on the hand crafted Diamond Willow Walking sticks. Class size is limited.
Aug. 4 -- Nature photography with Carlyn Iverson.
Climbing wall sessions will be offered Wednesdays, June 27 and July 11, and Tuesday, July 17, and Thursday, Aug. 17.
All classes begin at 1:30 p.m. unless otherwise stated. There is a participation fee of $5 for adults and $2.50 for children and members of FRIENDS. There is an additional fee of $10 for the walking stick program. The climbing wall fee is $10 per person. There is no charge to hike the trails or tour the visitors center.

Breastfeeding class set in Staples
STAPLES -- A breastfeeding class will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 17, at Lakewood Health System in Staples.
This class provides an opportunity for those women who are breastfeeding or intend to breastfeed to learn breastfeeding techniques, as well as receive support and encouragement.

Breastfeeding Mom's Group to meet in Staples
STAPLES -- A Breastfeeding Mom's Group will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesday in the family room at Greater Staples Hospital and Care Center, Staples.
Participants will share the joys and frustrations of breastfeeding with other nursing moms. Participants may bring their babies, as well as preschoolers.

Living With Diabetes group to meet in Staples
STAPLES -- The Living with Diabetes support group will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, May 14, in the care center activity room of Lakewood Health System, Staples.
May is fitness month, so to celebrate Randy Cappelle, physical therapist at Lakewood Health System, will share his expertise in the area of fitness at all levels. Wear loose, comfortable clothes.
Family members of people with diabetes are invited to attend these classes. There will be an opportunity for participants to share their experiences with diabetes.
