GARRISON --The hearing site on the proposed wastewater treatment permit for the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe has been changed to Garrison City Hall.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 5 announced the change for the hearing on the proposed National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permits. The hearing will be 7-9 p.m. May 24.
The EPA is taking comments on its proposal to renew a NPDES wastewater treatment permit for the Mille Lacs Band and to issue a NPDES permit to ML Wastewater Management Inc., a corporation formed by the band, for a new wastewater treatment facility with the potential to serve the city of Garrison, and Kathio and West Mille Lacs townships
The hearing may end earlier if all oral comments have been heard. Written comments may also be submitted at the hearing. Presentations from tribal, local, state and federal elected offices, agencies and organizations will be accepted first.
