A caregiver workshop is planned for 12:30-4:30 p.m. May 14 at Carefree Living, formerly called Brainerd Manor, 2723 Oak St., Brainerd.
The workshop is open to all caregivers, family members and professionals. Refreshments will be served and door prizes awarded.
Speakers include: Norm Hulin, senior project attorney, Legal Aid Office, speaking about updates on legal issues pertaining to caregivers/seniors; Elizabeth Harris, crime prevention specialist, Brainerd Police Department, speaking about projecting yourself and loved ones; Kathie Phillips, Senior Linkage advocate, Senior Linkage Line, speaking about current issues for seniors and caregivers; Jane Erickson, volunteer leader and retired food service director at St. Joseph's Medical Center, speaking about "Is it a 'french fry' day? How to control emotional eating"; and Kelly Peterson, registered nurse and building manager, and Deb Miller, social worker, both at Carefree Living, who will speak about living options for seniors.

Students to host blood drive
ONAMIA - National Honor Society students at Nay Ah Shing High School will host their first blood drive from 1:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the high school, 43651 Oodena Drive, Onamia. Walk-ins are welcome but if those interested in participating want to schedule an appointment, call the school at (320) 532-4695, ext. 2158.
