20 years ago (1980)

Leesha Flanagan and Betsy Palmer of Brainerd Community College will leave for Midland, Texas, Sunday after qualifying for the National Junior College Tennis Tournament which will be held May 12-14.

30 years ago (1970)

Members of Washington High School Class of 1921 will celebrate the Golden Anniversary of their graduation at a reunion set for July 1971, at Madden's Inn on Gull Lake. Dr. George F. Engstrom, class president, is chairman.

40 years ago (1960)

Preliminary figures released by the District Census Office in St. Cloud showed that Crow Wing County's population rose slightly. The tentative 1960 population figure for the county is 31,544 compared to 30,875 in 1950.

60 years ago (1940)

With medical costs making up nearly one-third of the relief load under which Crow Wing County is floundering, the County Welfare Board today announced that serious consideration is being given the possibility of a County Hospital or one built in conjunction with two neighboring counties.

80 years ago (1920)

The handsome and commodious passenger station just completed by the Northern Pacific Railway Company will be opened for public use on the afternoon of Saturday, May 15.

100 years ago (1900)

-- Miss Willoner is boarding at home now, as the roads are so much improved, coming and going on her wheel.

-- Mr. Conrad Isles, Senior, was out on a visit to his wife and children last Sunday.
