AITKIN - Clifford E. Jacobson, age 86, of Aitkin, died Friday, May 4, 2007, at the Riverwood Health Care Center in Aitkin.
He was born Dec. 28, 1920, in Saskatchewan, Canada, the son of Bernard and Josephine (Benson) Jacobson. He moved with his family to the Malmo area at a young age and he attended schools there. He then worked on the family farm and also spent time working in the CCC Camps in northern Minnesota. He then served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II. Upon his discharge he worked in Duluth and worked on the iron ore carriers on the Great Lakes. He married Anna E. Burman on June 6, 1953, in Aitkin. They made their home in Aitkin and Cliff worked for Deerwood Lumber for many years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Aitkin and had volunteered at Aicota Nursing Home with the Friendship Bus. He was also active in the Habitat for Humanity projects. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Jacobson of Aitkin; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Rick Carlson of Brainerd and Eunice and Jeff Aikin of South Range, Wis.; one son, Randy Jacobson of Hutchinson; seven grandchildren, Russel Aikin, Brice Aikin, Jarod Carlson, Whitney Carlson, Nolan Pasell, Jocelyn Jacobson and Cassandra Jacobson; one brother and sister-in-law, Newman and Joy Jacobson of Aitkin; two sisters, Alvina Kelling of Aitkin and Myrtle Graham of Blaine, Minn.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sandra Pasell; and one sister, Loreen Bonneville.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at 11 a.m. from First Lutheran Church with Rev. Sarah Cordray officiating. Burial will be in the Malmo Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Aitkin VFW and American Legion Posts. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 p.m. at Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home and also one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
