AITKIN - Elizabeth "Betty" A. Huber, age 82, of Aitkin, died Saturday, May 5, 2007, at the Hallett Cottages in Crosby, Minn.
Betty was born Nov. 19, 1924, in Aitkin, Minn., the daughter of Herman and Anna (Hofer) Voller. She grew up and attended schools in Aitkin, graduating from the Aitkin High School in 1942. She then attended teachers school in Crosby. Upon completion of that course, she taught in the areas of Jevne, Glory, Hassman, Rossburg and Malmo. She taught school for six years. She married Alvin V. Johnson on Jan. 1, 1946, in Aitkin. They made their home in Aitkin. Betty started working at the Aitkin Hospital in 1969 in the laundry department. Her husband, Alvin, died in 1971. She married Francis X. Huber on Aug. 10, 1073, at Aitkin. They continued living in Aitkin. Francis died in 1996. Betty moved to the Hallett Cottages in 2006. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Aitkin, the Aitkin VFW Auxiliary and a former member of the Aitkin Moose. She enjoyed gardening, dancing and playing cards.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Bonnie Johnson of Aitkin, Keith and Carol Johnson of Aitkin and Terry and Audrey Johnson of Aitkin; six grandchildren, Laura, Sara, Amanda, Jessica, Erin and Carol. Also surviving are six great-grandchildren; one brother, John Voller of Aitkin; and one sister, Margaret Schmidt of Mahtowa, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her husbands and one sister, Minnie.
Funeral services will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church on Friday, May 11, 2007, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Henry Koopman officiating. Interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Aitkin. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin and also one hour prior to services at the church.
Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
