Brittney Ellen Dahlberg, 11-year-old daughter of Bernadette Montalvo, Brainerd, and Bruce Dahlberg, Isle, has been chosen as a state finalist in the National American Miss Minnesota Pre-Teen Pageant Aug. 6-7 at the Sheraton Bloomington Hotel South in Bloomington.
Craft and bake sale and plant sale
The Lakes Area Senior Activity Center will have a craft and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 14. There will be many handcrafted items for sale and home baked goods by the senior center members.
There will also be a plant sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the senior center. Rudy Hillig will be at the center to answer any plant questions. The center is located at 803 Kingwood Street, Brainerd.
Brainerd Chapter of the IAAP
The Brainerd Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals will meet 7 p.m. Tuesday at Central Lakes College, Room W233. Brainerd Christian Women's Club
There will be a luncheon from noon to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Jack's House. The special feature will be JoAnn A. Grote, author of "Minnesota." She will be available for a book signing and questions after the luncheon. The speaker this month is Holly Barry from Minneapolis who will give her message on "Playing for Keeps." Grad Blast 2005
The planning committee of Brainerd High School Grad Blast 2005 will hold the last organizational meeting from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the BHS room A-160.
Grad Blast is May 27. Co-chairs are still needed for budget/fundraising, set up and clean up. Workers are still needed for set up and decorating from noon to 6 p.m. May 27; on the 1-5 a.m. May 28 shift in the casino and as chaperones.

Silent auction for National Nursing Home week
National Nursing Home Week is May 8-13. Woodland Good Samaritan Village, 100 Buffalo Hills Lane, Brainerd, will have a silent auction from 1-3 p.m. daily. There will be baskets full of goodies to bin on. Proceeds will go to a sound system for the nursing home dining room. The event is sponsored by Woodland Auxiliary.
The Mother/Daughter/Other dinner will be 6 p.m. Tuesday. The menu will be chicken and all the trimmings. Women of the Moose luncheon will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday. Women of the Moose chapter meeting with enrollment and the Lodge meeting will be 7 p.m. Thursday.
Lakes Area Human Resource Association
The Lakes Area Human Resource Association regularly scheduled meeting and luncheon will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Bonanza Steakhouse in Baxter on Hwy 371 North. 1945 and 1946 joint class reunion meeting
The 1945 and 1946 joint class reunion committee will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Moose Lodge. After lunch, the meeting will be at 1:30 p.m. at the Timbermist Convention Center.

The local Knights of Columbus will be having a brat sale 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday at Super One in Baxter. Brat, chips and a pop for $1.25. All proceeds will go to the Shriner's Hospital.

Pink Ribbon Golf Classic
Planning is underway for the second annual American Cancer Society's Brainerd Lakes Area Pink Ribbon Golf Classic event on June 21at the Pines Golf Course at Grand View Lodge.
There will be two options this year -- 18 holes at the Pines Golf Course, or nine holes at the Grand View Garden course.
The entry fee includes golf, cart, prizes, dinner, program, silent auction and tax deductible contribution to Pink Ribbon (breast cancer) ACS funds.
Heartland Senior Federation
Heartland Senior Federation will have an annual convention with registration beginning at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Bonanza Restaurant. Following registration, there will be a presentation about Social Security.
Pinetree Patchworkers Quilt Club
The Pinetree Patchworkers Quilt Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Lord of Life Church in Baxter. The program, starting at 6:45 p.m., will feature Pam Curo of Hackensack who is a quilt designer and shop owner. The business meeting will follow the program.

The Nisswa Area Historical Society will hold their first meeting of the season at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Nisswa Community Center.
Fishing opener garage sale
The Wild and Free program will have their sixth annual fishing opener garage sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 14 at the Garrison VFW. All proceeds will go to the wildlife rehabilitation program which offers treatment, care and release of orphaned or injured animals.
