"Hearing about the snow geese turning back into South Dakota because of the winter storms in North Dakota recently, son Michael, also a wildlife photographer, and I decided to head west for a photo shoot. ... As we stood to photograph, it was like a huge cloud rising out of the Earth, unlike anything we had ever seen. A solid wall of geese so thick the blue sky behind them was blocked out, the balance of geese on the ground fighting to penetrate the wall and get airborne.
