A few months ago I became stuck in a snow bank in the driveway leading into a church just east of the intersection of County Road 48 and Highway 371. I was in a hurry to make it to an important dentist appointment and was frantically trying to get my car out of this predicament. My wife showed up to try and assist me, but together we still couldn't get our vehicle to budge.

Raymond (Ray) E. Carow, 90, formerly of New Richmond, Wis., passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 3, 2009, while at home, surrounded by four generations of family. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth; his four children, Stephen (Diane), Susan (Lee Mitchell), Cindy (Bill Hursh, deceased), Michael (Jessica); 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. After raising their children in Minneapolis, Ruth and Ray made their second home in Pillager, Minn., where Ray worked for Madden's Golf Course up until his 80th birthday.
