A frontal system hovering over the Great Lakes and New England on Saturday was expected to bring showers, thunderstorms and possible wind gusts over 40 mph to the area.
Widespread storms with heavy rains and wind also were forecast for parts of the South as well as the Northern Plains.
A few showers and thundershowers were expected to develop over south Florida and the Florida Keys later Saturday afternoon and evening. The skies over the remainder of the East coast were expected to remain dry.
An upper level disturbance over the south-central portion of the country was expected to continue moving slowly eastward spreading showers and thunderstorms.
