Pillager cruises to victory at Metrodome

MINNEAPOLIS - The Pillagers Huskies loved the indoors as they pounded out 13 hits in a 12-1 victory over East Central at the Metrodome Monday.

Justin Ringler recorded seven strikeouts and also went 3-4 at the plate for the Huskies.

Jordan Hunstand went 2-4 with a triple, Sebastian Stelck was 2-3 and Matt Doss was 2-2 as Pillager raised its overall record to 6-5.

Aitkin 9, Isle 6

AITKIN - Kyle Hoffman went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and two RBIs as the Aitkin Gobblers overcame seven errors for a 9-6 win over the Isle Huskies in a Great River Conference game Monday.

Sam Johnson collected a double and RBI for the Gobblers while Collin Burke went 3-for-4 and knocked in a run. Nick Harmon got the win, walking two and striking out three with two earned runs in a complete game.

PEQUOT LAKES - Tom LaRue pitched seven innings, giving up one run while striking out six, in a non-conference victory for Pequot Lakes over Sebeka on Monday.

Mike Christensen and Ben Kepner each went 2-2 for Pequot.

The Patriots also received offensive support from Casey Christenson, who was 2-3, and from Jake Serfling, who doubled, as Pequot Lakes raised its overall record to 8-2.

PR-B wins, ties

CASS LAKE - Jordan Ackerman pitched a complete game and Andy Davidson went 3-for-4 to lead the Pine River-Backus Tigers to a 6-2 victory over Cass Lake Bena in the first game of a Northland Conference doubleheader Monday.

Ackerman had 11 strikeouts and three walks. Russell Burgoyne doubled and Nathan Holm was 1-1 with an RBI.

In Game Two, which ended in a six-inning tie due to darkness, Davidson pitched a complete game, with six strikeouts and one walk. Ackerman was 2-3 with a three-run homer and Davidson was 1-3 with a double and two RBIs.

PIERZ - The Pierz Pioneers put together a five-run inning, highlighted by Travis Kahl's two-run double but Eden Valley-Watkins scored six runs and the Pioneers lost their third Central Minnesota game 6-5 Monday.

Mike Weber took the loss, pitching seven innings and striking out seven. Kahl went 2-4 with two RBIs and Mike Poser was 2-4 with a run scored. Mitch Woitalla went 2-3 with two RBI and a run scored.
