CROSBY - Franklin Michael Diedrich, age 97 of Crosby, formerly of Remer, died on May 2, 2009, at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby.
He was born on March 20, 1912, in Princeton, Minn. to Frank and Elizabeth (Schultz) Diedrich. He was a WWII Army Veteran. He was a retired Tower Guard with the DNR with 53 years of service. He was a member of St. Emily's Catholic Church, the Outing Senior Citizens and a former member of the Myrin-James American Legion Post 443, Ironton.
He is survived by his wife Sophie; stepsons, Arthur (Kathy) Winger of Remer, David Winger of Remer; two stepdaughters, Doris Mae (Gerald) Gilmer of Ham Lake, Ethel (Pat) O'Neal of La Vista, Neb.; seven stepgrandchildren, 11 stepgreat-grandchildren and three stepgreat-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Emily's Catholic Church in Emily. Burial will be at the Pine Ridge Cemetery in Emily with full military honors given by the Myrin-James American Legion Post. Friends may call on Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of services. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
