Cards sweep to remain unbeaten

STAPLES -- The Staples-Motley Cardinals remained unbeaten with 3-0 and 9-1 victories over the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines in Mid-State Conference softball Tuesday.

S-M's Brenda Dailey went 2-for-3 with a run in game one while Katti Crawford went 3-4 and Liza Milless had two hits and two RBI in the second game.

PINE RIVER -- The Crosby-Ironton Rangers and Pine River-Backus Tigers combined to score 47 runs as the teams split in a Mid-State Conference twinbill Tuesday.

The Rangers took the first game as PR-B's Tara Smith was 3-for-4 and teammate Lyndie Walker was 2-for-4.

In the second game PR-B's Ashley Carlson pitched a two-hitter and was also 3-for-4 at the plate. Chelsey Dabill and Saara Backberg each added three hits for the Tigers.
