Hasselberg, Cards win at Park Rapids

PARK RAPIDS - Cydney Hasselberg's 79 paced the field and led the Staples-Motley Cardinals girls' golf team to victory Wednesday at the Park Rapids Invite.

Hasselberg was followed by teammate Darcy Martin's third-place 88 and Julia Schock's fourth-place 89.

The Pequot Lakes Patriots placed sixth and were led by Megan Lenz's 101.

Welshons' streak

moves to six

DEERWOOD - Melissa Welshons continued her Great River Conference dominance as she shot 46 Wednesday for medalist honors to lead the Aitkin Gobblers to a 217-230 victory over Onamia Wednesday at Cuyuna Country Club.

It was Welshons' sixth straight conference victory and it helped the Gobblers improve to 6-0 in conference play.

Dayna Weizenegger shot 56 followed by Natalia Burhow's 57 for the Gobblers.
