ST. CLOUD -- Led by a 2-over-par 74 from Mitch Means the Brainerd Warriors finished second in the St. Cloud Apollo Invitational/Central Lakes Conference boys' golf meet Monday at the Territories.

Brainerd carded a 310 in the conference meet and a 314 in the Invitational. Both were good for second behind Alexandria's 294.

Tommy Boyer shot 77, Jared Hoppe 79 and Spencer Sundberg rounded out the conference score with an 80.

"We are consistently playing well," said Warrior coach Brian Wallace. "It's just hard when you have one of the top teams in the state in your conference. Alexandria is hard to beat, but I still think we can if we put one real good day together.

Mitch Means shot a 74, good for second place.

"We're coming in 310 or better in most meets and that's good enough to win a lot of conferences, but not this one."

Curt Carlson shot an 81 followed by Clinton Strother's 82.

Bjorn Hedman shot a 1-over-par 73 to lead Little Falls to a tie for fourth in the conference meet and a tie for sixth in the invitational.

Note: The Invitational was only a four player event, so the CLC teams had to declare which four players would represent their team in the invitational. The CLC meet was the usual six-player format.
