Dettbarn Construction took the early lead in the men's twilight golf league at Pine Meadows by beating The Brainerd Dispatch 9.5 to 2.5 on the opening day of competition April 27.
Thelen Heating is in second place with 9.0 points following a 9-3 over Paul Bunyan Bowl.

Tiedemans, O'Day lead couples night
Dale Tiedeman, Chuck O' Day and Ruth Tiedeman took honors in the couples night scramble at Pine Meadows Friday.
Ron Oseland, John Aga, Bunny Oseland and Betty Aga were second. Couples night is every Friday at 5:15 p.m.
Golf scramble scheduled
The first Lakeland Public Television Golf Classic is scheduled for Wednesday, May 24. The four-person scramble is hosted by the Legacy Courses at Cragun's.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams and door prizes will be awarded. Registration is recommended by May 10. For more information call Dawn Slattine at (218) 855-0022.
Lehman's course to open
Greystone Golf Club, the Tom Lehman Signature golf course in Sauk Centre, will hold a grand opening Friday, June 23 at 8:30 a.m.
Several golf club manufacturers will be there as well as Lehman himself. The public is welcome to view this championship course and watch Lehman play.
Greystone is located 2 1/2 miles north of Sauk Centre on Highway 71.
Free lessons offered
Madden's golf professional Chris Foley is participating in the PGA/Golf Digest national "PGA Free Lesson Month" promotion. Foley will offer free 10-minute lessons at the following times during May:
Saturday, May 6, noon-2 p.m.
Saturday, May 20, noon-2 p.m.
Sunday, May 21, noon-2 p.m.
Friday, May 26, 5 p.m.-7 p.m.
To participate in the program, amateur golfers must call Madden's at 829-2811 or log on to www.chrisfoley.com to set up a free lesson. They should also present an original free lesson card from the May issue of Golf Digest.
Sugarbrooke to manage Wendigo Golf Club
Sugarbrooke Golf Club, a division of Sugar Lake Lodge, will manage Wendigo Golf Club for the 2000 golf season.
The management agreement includes grounds maintenance, course administration and season pass sales, as well as all general and site specific marketing.
Kelly Hain will serve as director of golf for both courses.
