Pizza on the patio

Prairie Bay Restaurant will offer a gourmet pizza buffet and socializing from 4:30-6:30 p.m. May 8 for pizza on the patio. Cost: $10 per person. No RSVP necessary. Proceeds will go to the Lupus Foundation.

Brainerd Auxiliary of the Shrine Hospital

Brainerd Auxiliary of the Shrine Hospital for Children will meet at noon Monday at the Masonic Hall in Brainerd. Hostesses for the luncheon are Chantell Erickson and Carol Crust. A report of the annual meeting "For the Love of a Child" will be discussed.

WHS class of 1955

The Washington High School class of 1955, spouses and friends will meet for lunch at 11 a.m. Monday at the Red Roof Inn. Planning will begin for the 55th class reunion.

WHS class of 1941

The Washington High School class of 1941 will meet at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Chopper's in Brainerd.

Brainerd Garden Club

Brainerd Garden Club will meet at noon Friday at Northland Arboretum for a salad luncheon potluck. There will also be an arboretum tour and plant exchange. Hostesses will be Betty Holden and Marlys Ray.

Spring bazaar and bake sale

NISSWA - The Nisswa American Legion Auxiliary will sponsor a spring bazaar from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 9 at the Nisswa American Legion Post. Vendors will be displaying items from jewelry, quilts, appliqued shirts, wooden lawn ornaments, bird houses, etc. Proceeds from the bazaar will go toward providing support for veterans and community projects.

Fort Ripley Rebels baseball smelt fry

The Fort Ripley Rebels baseball team will have a smelt fry from 4-8 p.m. May 8 at the Fort Steakhouse. Cost: $10 for adults; children 4-12, $5.

Brainerd Women of the Moose mother/daughter supper

Brainerd Women of the Moose mother/daughter supper will begin with social hour at 5:30 p.m. and the spaghetti dinner at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Moose Lodge in Brainerd. Tickets are $6 for adults; children 12 and under are $4; and children under 4 are free. RSVPs are appreciated if there's a group over eight.

Mission Possible Senior Club

The Mission Possible Senior Club will meet at noon Wednesday at the Mission Town Hall. A potluck will be followed by speaker Jack Johnson on the topic of senior transportation.

Senior dance

A senior dance will be from 2-5 p.m. Wednesday at the Brainerd Eagles with music by Frank and Fran.

Lakes and Woods Garden Club

AITKIN - The May meeting of the Aitkin Lakes and Woods Garden Club, will be 7 p.m. Monday at Mille Lacs Electric in Aitkin. The program will be on "Dividing Perennials" by Arlene Freeman and Char and Bob Wrobel. Refreshments by Ellinor Eberhardt and Felicia Forder. The plant sale will be May 16 at Jacques Art Center in Aitkin.

Listening Ears support group

A new support group for widows and widowers will begin meeting in Brainerd. For meeting details or more information, call Doris at 829-7565.

PEO CJ

Chapter CJ of PEO will meet at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. Hostesses are Jean Halland and Marilyn Swenson. Phyllis Struthers will give the program.

Breast cancer survivor support group

The May breast cancer survivor support group will meet at 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Medical Center in the Joseph Room. The speaker will be Dr. David Boran, Chief Medical Officer of Brainerd Lakes Health. He is excited to meet the support group participants and give an update on the vision and plans for the Brainerd Lakes Cancer Center. All breast cancer survivors are invited to attend. Lakes Area Dance Club

The Lakes Area Dance Club will have its monthly dance on Friday at Central Lakes College, room E101. The dance lesson will be the waltz. Other dances will be reviewed. The dance lesson will begin at 6:30 p.m. so be there by 6:15 p.m. to register. Open dancing will follow from 7:30-9 p.m. The cost is $5 for USA Dance members, $10 for non-members and $2 for students with a current ID. For more information call Deb at 820-3557.

Potlatch Retirees will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Lakes Area Senior Activity Center.

Plant festival planned

The annual plant festival at the Lakes Area Senior Activity Center will be May 7-9.

There will be fruit tree packages, vegetables, tomatoes, annual and perennial flowers, hostas and much more. Hours will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 7, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 8 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 9.

Spring craft and bake sale will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 9. Handcrafted items will fill the Senior Center. Homebaked foods will be for sale. Coffee and donuts and a brat lunch will also be available for purchase

Both events benefit the Lakes Area Senior Activity Center located at 803 Kingwood St.

VFW Friday night fish fry

The VFW Friday night fish fry dinner will be from 5:30-7 p.m. or until gone Friday at the Brainerd VFW. Cost is $8.

Brainerd Shrine Club to meet

Brainerd Shrine Club will meet for soup and sandwich at noon Monday at the Moose Lodge dining room. Board of directors meeting will be at 10 a.m.
