PINE RIVER - Jamie Ackerman went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs as the Pine River-Backus softball team dispatched Red Lake 14-3 Thursday.
Erin Johnson pitched a five-inning complete game for the Tigers, striking out 10 and allowed no earned runs.
Paige Sepin had two RBIs and one of PR-B's three inside-the-park home runs along with Krystle Hamilton and Denin Oliver.

SEBEKA - Nicole Bart gave up just three hits and one unearned run in two games as Verndale completed a doubleheader sweep of Sebeka 11-0 and 11-1 Thursday.
In game one Bart gave up one hit and had five strikeouts. In game two she gave up one unearned run and had nine strikeouts.
Alicia Johnson was the hitting star for the Pirates, going 6-for-7 in the two games with seven RBIs. Cathy Kemp went 2-3 with three runs scored and Heather Hejhal went 2-3 in game one.
Brittany Kern went 2-2 with three runs scored in game two.

Pierz, Holdingford split
HOLDINGFORD - The Pierz Pioneers split a double-header with the Holdingford Huskers, winning 14-9 and losing 8-0 in Central Minnesota Conference softball Thursday.
In game one, Danielle Nelson was 5-for-5 with a double and four runs scored, Maggie Poster was 4-5 with a home run and four runs scored, Rachel Bednar was 2-3 with a double and Ashley Karst was 2-4. Kelsey Meyer and Megan Welle each had doubles for the Pioneers.
Kaitlyn Fuhrman picked up the win as she threw 4 2/3 innings, giving up four hits while striking out four.
In game two, Holdingford shut down the Pioneers' bats as Danielle Nelson broke up Holdingford's perfect game with a two-out single in the seventh. That was the only hit the Pioneers registered.

Flyers, Otters split
LITTLE FALLS - The Little Falls Flyers split a Central Lakes Conference softball double-header with the Fergus Falls Otters on Thursday, losing the first game 7-5 before winning the nightcap 8-7.
In the game one loss, Ariel Waldoch was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI, Melissa Hurni was 2-3, Trisha Wippler was 2-4 with two doubles and an RBI and Paige Beseman had a triple for the Flyers.
Ashly Erickson took the loss but she gave up only one earned run.
In the game two win, Marissa Gessell picked up the win as she struck out five for Little Falls.
Gessell helped her cause at the plate as she went 2-3 with a triple, two runs scored and two RBIs. Bailey Veillette was 2-3 with a double and RBI.
