LITTLE FALLS - Andrew Lange struck out six and allowed five hits and two earned runs to lead the Little Falls Flyers to an 11-2 Central Lakes Conference victory over Fergus Falls Thursday.

Ben Hanowski was 2-for-3 with a home run and two runs. Beau Hanowski was 2-3 with two runs and Joe Rydeen was 2-3 with a double and three RBIs.

PIERZ - Scott Janson threw his second consecutive shutout, striking out nine, while allowing only two hits as Pierz blanked Holdingford 9-0 in Central Minnesota Conference baseball Thursday.

Pierz's Matt Woitalla was 2-2 with an RBI and Mark Kahl went 2-4 with two runs and one RBI.

AITKIN - Tim Pearson struck out 10 and allowed three hits and one earned run as the Aitkin Gobblers beat Onamia 5-1 Thursday.

Dan Landrus was 3-4 with two stolen bases and an RBI and Scott Nyberg went 2-3 with two RBIs for the Gobblers.

VERNDALE - Matt Moenkedick finished 2-3 at the plate and pitched a complete-game shutout in Verndale's 1-0 Park Region Conference victory over Sebeka Thursday.

Clayton Cottrell was 1-3 and drove in the game-winning run.

PINE RIVER - Andy Davidson hit a 3-run home run to power the Pine River-Backus Tigers past the Northland-Remer Eagles 9-2 in non-conference baseball Thursday.

Ryan Snavely added a double and scored three runs and Jared Johnson was 2-for-2 with two RBIs.

Jordan Ackerman picked up the win to improve to 2-0. He gave up two runs, three hits and struck out nine.

sweeps Cardinals

PARK RAPIDS - The Park Rapids Panthers swept a Mid-State Conference doubleheader from the Staples-Motley Cardinals by scores of 6-5 and 4-0 Thursday.

In game one, Chad Deede was 2-for-3 with a double, run scored and an RBI. Devin Becker, Trevor Smith and Ben Enney each had the other Cardinals hits.

In game two, Alex Jansson was 2-3 with a double and Trevor Ness had the other Cardinal hit.
