Several secretaries in the Brainerd School District will be losing their jobs or will be working fewer hours next school year.
The Brainerd School Board's Curriculum Committee accepted the administration's recommendations Thursday to reduce the following secretary positions: Brainerd High School attendance secretary will be reduced to nine months; and the South Campus attendance secretary, Forestview media secretary, Lincoln building and media secretaries and the Whittier building and media secretaries will all be reduced to 10 months.
Another BHS attendance secretary will be reduced from 11 to 10 months; BHS clerk/cashier secretary from 12 to 10 months; BHS guidance secretary from 11 to 10 months; BHS media secretary from 12 to nine months; BHS building secretary from 12 to 10 months; Learning Center Building secretary from 12 to 11 months; and Learning Center secretary from 12 months to 10 months.
The Forestview guidance secretary position would be increased from 11 to 12 months.
The committee also will recommend that the school board approve resignations from Rochelle Jabas, Joanne Johnson, Susan Polipnick and Colleen Rudlang.
It also will recommend that the following secretaries be placed on unrequested leave of absences: Janet Horn, Lisa Olson and Jolene Owen.
The Brainerd School Board will vote on these proposals at its May 12 meeting.
In other curriculum business, the committee will recommend that the school board approve that May 30 be a full school day instead of a half day to make up for a snow day. This will affect all students, except kindergarten students who'll have their Kinderfriend Day on May 28. Teacher inservice days will be made up June 2 and 3 and June 4 will be a half-day inservice day.
