Once again the talent of KFAN will converge on Madden's Resort for the annual KFAN/Madden's Golf Opener and tournament Friday through Sunday.
The weekend starts at 9 a.m. Friday when Paul Allen and Jeff Dubay air their show live from Madden's Inn in East Gull Lake.
At noon "The Common Man Program" with Dan Cole takes over the airwaves until 2 p.m. when the Chad Hartman show begins.
At 7 p.m. the Sludge and Lake Show airs during a "Beat the Radio Jock" shootout on the Pine Beach East hole No. 1 under the lights.
Saturday features the tee-to-green show with Dan Cole at 10 a.m. with the two-man golf tournament beginning at 9 a.m. The tournament features six holes scramble, six holes alternate shot and six holes best ball.
Dinner and a Texas Hold'em card tournament follow the golf tournament in the Northstar room.
The weekend includes unlimited golf at Madden's Pine Beach East or West courses, two breakfast buffets, Saturday night dinner and the ability to play The Classic at Madden's for $50.

The cost for the golf tournament is $60 per player. The "Beat the Jock" shootout is free to the public. The public is also welcome to watch all the live KFAN Broadcasts.
PGA free lesson month
Chris Foley and Joni Meyer at Madden's Resort will offer free 10-minute lessons in May in conjunction with "PGA Free Lesson Month," the national growth-of-the-game campaign, a joint partnership of The PGA of America, Golf Digest, Golf For Women and The Golf Channel.
Foley will offer free 10-minute lessons at the following times during the month of May at the Madden's Airport Driving Range:
Wednesday, May 9, 11-Noon (Joni Meyer), 4-5 p.m. (Foley)
Thursday, May 17, 5-6 p.m. (Foley)
Saturday, May 19, 5:30-6:30 p.m. (Meyer)
Monday, May 21 5-6 p.m. (Foley), 5:30-6:30 p.m. (Meyer)
To participate in the program, amateur golfers must call Madden's at 829-2811 or log on to www.chrisfoleygolf.com to set up a free lesson.
Breezy Point women's league
The Breezy Point women's golf league will host a spring luncheon 11:30 a.m. May 10 at Sibley Station in Pequot Lakes.
New members are welcome. The cost is $10 plus tax and tip.
The 9-hole league, which is played at 10 a.m. every Thursday, is open to all women. A golf membership is not required. League dues are $30. Handicap fee is $20.
The first league day is May 17 with a 4-person scramble, to be played at Whitebirch. Players can join anytime during the season.

Grad Blast fundraiser scheduled
The Pequot Lakes Grad Blast committee will host a fundraiser for Grad Blast 2007 at Wildwedge Golf & Mini Golf May 6.
Interested players should show up at Wildwedge Golf and Mini Golf between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., tell them you are there for the grad blast fundraiser and play golf or mini golf. Half of all sales that day will go to the grad blast committee.
There will be contests on the mini golf course and the golf course. Also, if anybody gets a hole-in-one on any hole on the golf course, that person will receive a free Wildwedge season membership, plus an extra $100 will go to grad blast. Dollars for Scholars scramble scheduled
The Pine River-Backus Dollars for Scholars Scholarship fund, in conjunction with the Pine River Country Club, will memorialize Denny Heemstra at the ninth annual Dollars for Scholars golf scramble 4 p.m. Friday.
Donations will be accepted for construction of the Heemstra Memorial Garden. The garden will be planted on the new par 3.
Those interested in making donations may send a check, made out to PRB Dollars for Scholars Memorial, and mail to the Pine River Country Club, PO Box 196, Pine River, MN 56474. For more information call Pat at (218) 587-4774.
Cost of the golf scramble is $25 per person and includes green fees and picnic dinner. Golf carts and mulligans are available for a "scholarly fee."

Duffer's Open benefits CLC scholarships, golf program
The Central Lakes College Foundation, BL Broadcasting and the Legacy at Cragun's co-sponsored the second annual Central Lakes College Duffer's Open Friday at the Legacy at Cragun's.
Diane Scearcy, director of the CLC Foundation, said the event "attracted 186 golfers, the weather was perfect and we grossed $15,000."
Proceeds benefit the CLC Scholarship Fund and the Raiders' golf program.
Birch Bay news
The senior men's group at Birch Bay Golf Course in East Gull Lake will start the season Thursday.
Every Thursday in May senior men can play nine holes before noon for $5.
Birch Bay is also hosting a Women's Social golf preseason brunch 11:30 a.m. May 23 at Kelly's.
Every Monday except Memorial day, and every Wednesday in May, women may play nine holes before noon for $5.
The Couples Social golf group will play 4 p.m. Sundays starting June 3.
Holes in one
Ed Money, Maple Grove, aced the 177-yard, seventh hole at The Classic at Madden's April 29 using a 7-iron.
Sheridan Adair, Brainerd, aced the 114-yard, 17th hole at Eagles Landing May 1 using a 7-iron.
