STAPLES -- Chelsea Einerwold went 6-for-7 with three doubles, seven RBI and scored five runs and Shari Berg and Sara Dezell pitched gems as the Staples-Motley Cardinals swept their softball tournament Saturday.
Einerwold went 2-for-3 in the first game and had three RBI as S-M blanked Pierz 10-0. Teammate Liza Milless was 2-3, scored twice and had one RBI. Berg pitched a complete-game three-hitter, struck out three and walked none.
In a 20-9 victory over Moose Lake-Willow River, Einerwold was 3-3, scored three runs and drove in three. Katie Crawford was 2-4 with three RBI. Dezell, a freshman, pitched a complete game in her varsity debut, with one strikeout and two walks.
Einerwold was 1-1 with two RBI and scored twice as the Cardinals beat Sebeka 7-1. Brenda Dailey was 2-3 with one run and two RBI. Berg fired a three-hitter, with four strikeouts and four walks.

Gobblers win two of three
DEER RIVER -- The Aitkin Gobblers won two games before losing to defending Section 7, Class 1A champion Mountain Iron-Buhl in the Deer River tournament Saturday.
Emily Walz had a two-run triple and Kelly Hoge had two hits for Aitkin in a 6-4 win over Hill City. Gen Moe pitched four solid innings and Sarah Ibenez earned a save.
Angie Carlson had two hits and four RBI and Hoge collected two hits in a 6-2 victory over Ely. Ibenez got the win while Moe earned a save.
Against MI-B, Moe and Walz each had two hits in a 3-0 loss.
