Della Deshayes

SWANBURG -- Della Deshayes, 91, Swanburg, died Thursday, May 1, 2003, at St. Joseph's Medical Center.

She was born July 4, 1911, in Stewartville to Charles and Minnie (Pearson) Havoner. She attended school in Markville and then at Swanburg country school. After school she worked in Duluth for a short time. She married Elie Deshayes in Brainerd. They moved to Bremerton, Wash., in 1941. She worked in the Bainbridge shipyards for four years. They moved back to Swanburg. She worked at Manhattan Beach Lodge. Her husband died in 1980. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Swanburg and was active in church volunteer activities.

Survivors include two daughters, Gloria Goldenstein, Coon Rapids, and Annette Schetka, Swanburg; nine grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a half sister, Myrtle Marlowe, Nimrod.

Her husband; a son, Dwaine Deshayes; four sisters, Alvira, Evelyn, Edith and Beryl; and four brothers, Leslie, Lyle, Gene and Ronald, died earlier.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Faith Lutheran Church in Swanburg with the Rev. Marlys Korman officiating. Burial will be in Swanburg Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake and an hour before services Monday at the church.
