Mobile home fire
Brainerd firefighters sprayed foam onto a mobile home that caught fire about 1:15 p.m. Thursday. The mobile home, located on Highway 25 in Long Lake Township and owned by Duane Smart, was destroyed in the fire. The fire is believed to have started after hot ashes ignited grass near the mobile home.

Open Forum
As a student of the Area Education Center, I feel AEC was misrepresented in The Brainerd Daily Dispatch's Open Forum letter, "Alternative ed." The framework of AEC and BHS are different, but their curriculum is the same. We all need to take the same amount of credits and we have to take the same general classes. To my knowledge AEC students do not receive less work than BHS students. The classes and teachers at AEC are no more lenient than those at BHS.
