Lester E. Swift, 75, Brainerd, died Saturday, April 29, 2000, at Fairview University Hospital of Minneapolis.
He was born Oct. 8, 1924, in Crow Wing County, to Harry and Emma (Newman) Swift. He served in the Army during World War II. He worked at Potlatch in the coating department until his retirement. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene of Brainerd and a member of the VFW Post No. 1647.
Survivors include his wife, Mardelle; three sons, John, Jim and Jack Swift, all of Brainerd; a daughter, Joan Swift-Fairley, Brainerd; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond Swift, California, and William Swift, Denver, Colo.; and three sisters, Maxine Blucher, Denver, Colo., Eilene Pettibone, New Mexico, and Bertha Davis, Monticello.
His parents, a brother, Archie, and two sisters, Viola Hudson and Mary Lou Johnston, died earlier.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Church of the Nazarene of Brainerd with Pastor Michael Lynch officiating. Burial will be in Lake Edward Cemetery with military rites provided by the VFW Post No. 1647.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of services Thursday at the church.
