Bart, Pirates sweep Sebeka

VERNDALE - Nicole Bart threw two shutouts, with 11 strikeouts in 14 innings, and was 4-for-8 with a double and five RBIs as Verndale swept a doubleheader against Park Region Conference rival Sebeka Thursday.

Brittany Kern was 5-for-8 in the two games for the Pirates and Alicia Johnson was 4-for-8 for Verndale.

Aitkin 11, Ogilvie 1

AITKIN - Sara Hoge went 4-for-4 with five RBIs, and six innings of one-hit ball to lead the Aitkin Gobblers past the Ogilvie Lions 11-1 in Great River Conference play.

Kristy Hoge was 3-4 with a double and Ellen Raushel was 2-3 with a double to lead Aitkin. Lena Montano also went 1-2 with a double and Allie Carson went 1-2 with an RBI for Aitkin.

Maple Lake sweeps Pierz

PIERZ - The Pierz Pioneers collected 13 hits through 10 innings but the hot-hitting Maple Lake Irish walked away with two wins in Thursday's non-conference double-header.

Crystal Boser went 2-for-3 with a double and a run for the Pioneers, while Megan Boser went 2-for-3 with an RBI in the 19-5 Game One loss.

Kelsey Meyer and Shelby Fuhrman went 1-for-2, but the Pioneers couldn't touch home in a 12-0 Game Two loss.

Pillager, B-H split

BERTHA - Nicole Marcy and Kaylie Hanson delivered the first home-game home runs for Pillager on its new field as the Huskies split a doubleheader with the Bertha-Hewitt Bears in Park Region Conference action Thursday.

Marcy went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer that landed in the adjacent baseball field as the Huskies lost Game One 7-6. Hanson and Danielle Johnson each added doubles for the Huskies, while Ally Hunstad struck out eight batters.

Hanson went 4-for-6, including a three-run homer, as the Huskies claimed a 14-8 Game Two win. Marcy, Nicole Mast, and Danielle Johnson each tagged Game Two doubles for the Huskies.

LITTLE FALLS - Marissa Gessell gave up only one run on two hits and struck out six but the Little Falls Flyers failed to give her any run support in a 1-0 loss to the St. Cloud Apollo Eagles in a Central Lakes Conference game Thursday.

Trisha Wippler doubled for the Flyers, who managed four hits.
