The Brainerd Auxiliary of the Shrine Hospital for Children will meet at noon Monday at the Masonic Hall in Brainerd. Hostesses are Arleen Elliot, Jerry Howard and Connie Murray. Members are asked to bring items for the white elephant sale.

Spring arts and crafts festival

The spring arts and crafts festival will be 9:30 a.m. 4 p.m. May 8 at the Brainerd Senior High School. Use north or south doors. Free admission. Face painting. Refreshments.

Unlimited Learning session

The sensitive issue of battered women is the subject of the next Unlimited Learning session. On Tuesday, the program "Is Domestic Violence a Private or Community Matter?" begins at 1:30 p.m. at the Hallett Community Center in Crosby. VFW and Ladies Auxiliary memorial services

The annual Veterans of Foreighn Wars 1647 and its Ladies Auxiliary memorial services will be 7 p.m. Thursday at the Post Home, 309 S. 6th St.

This service is held annually to honor those comrades and sisters who have passed away during the past year.

The deceased Post members are: Reuben Aho, John Cluever, John Erickson, Carl L. Hanson, Donald Hookom, Daryl Johnson, Tillman Johnson, Al J. Klein, Albin Kuschel, Paul Lippert, Ken Magloughlin, Maurice O. Olson, Norman Rock, Lavern Schuety, Rodney Sims, Gene Witt, Albin Wolvert and Charlie Zaleckis.

The Bethany Good Samaritan Auxiliary is sponsoring "Bowling for Bethany" fundraiser on Monday at Jack's House. Show your support for seniors by eating lunch or dinner at Jack's House. Lakes and Woods Horticultural Club

The Lakes and Woods Horticultural Club will meet 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Mille Lacs Electric Cooperative meeting room in Aitkin. Please note meeting date change. The program, Creating Outdoor Living Spaces, will be presented by Kathy Sydnes. Roll call question is "Have you created a sitting nook in your garden?" Business meeting discussion items will include the coming plant sale on May 22 at Jaques Art Center in Aitkin and sale of quilt raffle tickets. Refreshments will be provided. The Garden Club is affiliated with the Minnesota State Horticultural Society.
