MOTLEY -- Casey Gaalswyk, 86, Motley, died Tuesday, April 29, 2003, at Greater Staples Care Center.
He was born Sept. 30, 1916, in Rock Valley, Iowa, to Cornelius and Cornelia (Bakker) Gaalswyk. He farmed for many years. He was a member of the Assemblies of God Church in Pillager. He operated Casey's Garden.
Survivors include his wife, Clarice; four sons, Edlin Gaalswyk, Duluth, Chuck Gaalswyk, Wadena, Dale Gaalswyk, Broken Arrow, Okla., and David Gaalswyk, Pillager; two daughters, Corleen Stephan, Owatonna, and Reida Baer, Fort Vermillion, Alberta, Canada; 19 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Marion Gaalswyk, St. James, Arie Gaalswyk, Sioux Falls, S.D., Henry Gaalswyk, Welcome, and John Gaalswyk, Owatonna; and two sisters, Greta Jagodzinske, Welcome, and Katy Olson, Sherburne.
His first wife, Wilmina; three brothers, Teunis, Peter and Jacob; and a sister, Marie, died earlier.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Assemblies of God Church, Pillager, with the Rev. Les Crider and the Rev. Jim Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery in Pillager.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home in Brainerd and an hour before services Saturday at the church.
