Pierz boys second in CMC meet

COLLEGEVILLE -- Doug Virnig led the Pierz boys' golf team with a 37 and helped the Pioneers take second place at Boulder Ridge in a Central Minnesota Conference meet Tuesday.

Pierz's Nate Meyer added a 38, helping the Pioneers stay one point behind Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa in the conference standings.

Staples moves further ahead in Mid-Minn West Conference

PARK RAPIDS -- Staples-Motley's Andrew Murray fired a 38 to earn medalist honors at the Mid-Minnesota Conference meet Monday.

Murray's score along with Cory Wilson and Isaac Landecker's 40s helped the S-M Cardinals widen their conference lead.

Patriots close the gap on the Rangers

DEERWOOD -- Pine River-Backus junior Logan Sasse was the best at holding off a 15 mph wind, and some late evening cool conditions as he carded a 42 to take medalist honors at Cuyuna Country Club Monday in a Central Minnesota Conference boys' golf meet Monday.

All six Pequot Lakes Patriots shot 40's to win the meet by two strokes over Crosby-Ironton.

Kavanaugh's pace Pillager to second place

EAGLE VALLEY -- Bryan and Joe Kavanaugh shot rounds of 43 and 44, placing them in the top five, and led the Pillager Huskies boys' golf team to a second place finish in the Eagle Valley golf tournament on Monday.
