Firefighters responded to four fires Saturday in the Brainerd area.
Burning lumber got out of control on Fox Road in Baxter. No damage was reported.
A mobile home north of Riverton caught fire Saturday and the fire spread to nearby woods, damaging two cars, a boat and two lawn mowers. Firefighters from Crosby and Deerwood helped the Brainerd DNR battle the blaze.
A large pile of lumber slashings that had been burned in February but was still smoldering was responsible for another fire in St. Mathias Township. "We find that fairly common," said Wayne Damerow, firefighter with the Brainerd DNR. "We advise everyone to make sure to check your brush piles frequently after burning."
A fire near the Brainerd airport is still under investigation. No damage was reported.
The fire index is high. All burning restrictions are still in effect.
