CLC to present 'Springtime Songscape' music concert May 6

The Central Lakes College Music Department will present its final vocal concert of the academic year, "Springtime Songscape," at 7:30 p.m. May 6 in the Chalberg Theatre.

Admission is free.

Michelle Sakry-Winkelman will direct 36 students in five ensembles, with Sarah Gorham-Cohoes accompanying on piano.

The Training Ensemble features Jody Keehr, Andrea Penner, Beth Rogge and Ashley Goedker singing two numbers, including Henry Mancini's "Moon River." The Women's Ensemble will perform music from "West Side Story," as well as the music of composers Michael Shannon and Karl Jenkins.

The Concert Chorale will be accompanied by flutist Jennifer Garry on "They Shall Soar Like Eagles." The Chamber Singers will perform selections from Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Phantom of the Opera" and join all other singers in the finale, G.M. Summer's "Fields of Gold."

Concert Chorale member Benjamin Miller, this year's Outstanding Vocal Performer, will sing from Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro." Maureen Madsen and Joe Keppers will be awarded as Outstanding Choir Students and Carol Johnson will receive the Chamber Singers Award.
