Interest was lacking in 1951 Plymouth

Posted: Thursday, April 29, 2004

Wow, I only received two phone calls and one email in an attempt to guess last week's vehicle.

I guess I must have been gone too long. Anyway, Don Wasson of Brainerd guessed right. The vehicle was a 1951 Plymouth.

Wasson had this to say about the vehicle, "I would have to say it was nothing to be proud of."

Carl Specht, Brainerd Dispatch online consultant and Audiotex administrator, took this photograph near Remer. Can you guess the year, make and model as well as any other information about this vehicle. You can respond by leaving your message on the Dispatch Autoline at 829-2900 or 1-800 547-2909 and press code 8424. You can also email Clint at camman2@brainerd.net.

I am really puzzled by what kind of car it is. I tried to read the lettering on the fender. Cambridges, Cranbrooks and Concords were made in 1951.

Northland Auto Show Saturday

Classic Car owners are reminded of a car show at Northland Auto north of Brainerd on Highway 371 Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

First-place trophies will be awarded for driver's choice and people's choice. A $1,000 Grand Prize will be awarded for best of show.

Food also will be available to support local charities and sports.

This 1951 Plymouth was last week's guess the vehicle.

Andy Anderson, general manager, said he sent out about 30 applications. "A lot of (car owners) will register at the door," he said.

He said these classics will be displayed at the lot's front row.

Some of the pre entries include a 1967 Pontiac GTO and a 1948 Chevrolet Street Rod.

Anderson said this show could be an annual event depending on attendance.
