The Salvation Army of the Brainerd lakes area would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the need in our community and has responded so generously with donations of food and money to the Food Shelf during the month of March, which is recognized as Minnesota Food Share Month. We also would like to express our thanks to the media for their coverage during this event.
Donations reached over 7700 pounds of food and hygiene products and over $8700 to help purchase food for the upcoming months. Last year March Food Share brought in over 10,559 pounds of food and over $7100. Although we were down in food and hygiene we were up in monetary donations. This is good because people are becoming aware that we have more purchasing power with dollars than the average shopper. On an average we serve over 300 individuals per months with over 5000 pounds of food.
Again we thank you for all your support and may God bless you.

Thanks for band
I think I speak for all the instrumental and vocal music lovers of the Brainerd area for the outstanding performance here on Saturday, April 22.
All of these musicians are specialists and perfectionists aand seem to enjoy their jobs as much as we enjoy hearing them perform.Standing ovations were many and the applause was deafening.
I sincerely hope the Dispatch will continue to sponsor such events It is a tribute to the community and the many people who turn out to enjoy the music.

Zonta appreciated
The Monday night Family Support Network and the Parent Mentor Program were recipients of Earth beach balls given by the Zonta Club as an education piece to promote awareness of Earth Day. The Earth beach balls will be a reminder for all of us to do our part in protecting the earth as well as teach us geography. Thanks, Zonta.
