Mary J. Schumann, 79, Brainerd, died Friday, April 28, 2000, at Country Care Homes in Pequot Lakes.
She was born April 6, 1921, in Nokay Lake Township, to Charlie and Nancy (Spohn) Klippenes. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church, serving in a variety of roles. She was also a school teacher, bookkeeper, office receptionist and worked for 11 years at Montgomery Ward in Brainerd. She married the Rev. Wallace Schumann, on Aug. 9, 1946.
Survivors include two daughters, Darlene Benson, Willmar, Karen Schumann, Brainerd; three sons, John Schumann, Hartland, Wis., Joel Schumann, New Berlin, Wis., Dr. Kevin Schumann, Taylors Falls; 10 grandchildren; one great granddaughter; two brothers, Charles Klippenes, St. Louis Park, and George Klippenes, Brainerd.
Her husband, a son, Dr. David Schumann, and three grandchildren who died before birth, died earlier.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Temple Baptist Church in Brainerd. Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. in Graham United Methodist Cemetery 45 miles south of Brainerd on Highway 25 and one mile west on Benton County Highway 2.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday at Halvorson Johnson Funeral Home in Brainerd and from 9 a.m. until the service hour Tuesday at the church.
