Coaches' night at the Brainerd Elks Lodge is scheduled Saturday evening. The Elks say the night is "in appreciation" to all the coaches who serve the youths in the Brainerd Elks area. Coaches from Brainerd, Pine River, Pillager, Aitkin, Motley, Pequot Lakes, Pierz, Crosby-Ironton, Staples and Isle will be present.
30 years ago (1970)
The Pacemakers, currently one of the most popular vocal groups in the Brainerd area, are now making an average of three appearances a week. The High School Singers gave a concert yesterday at the Brainerd State Junior College where they were enthusiastically received.
40 years ago (1960)
Musical symbols will carry out the theme, "Rhapsody in Blue," are to be the theme of the 1960 Junior-Senior Prom, to be held in the Washington High School auditorium. A total of 96 couples have registered for the prom.
60 years ago (1940)
Frank Little, phenomenal Brainerd athlete, took up in Junior College where he left off in High School to set a new record in the 120-yard High Hurdle event at the Eveleth Relays.
80 years ago (1920)

-- New Park Theatre. Today "Pretty Baby." Prices 75, $1, $1.50 plus war tax.

"You are looking handsome tonight, Miss Flite," Bagster remarked in the pause of the dance.
"So Mr. Smyth told me a few minutes ago."
Bagster (only remembering that Smythe is his hated rival), "Well, you wouldn't believe anything that chump said, would you?"
