GARRISON - Clyde N. "Bob" Murch, age 89, of Garrison, died April 25, 2009, at the Aicota Health Care Center in Aitkin.
He was born on Nov. 7, 1919, in Epping, N.D. to Walter and Maude (Caukins) Murch. He was a W.W.II Army veteran. He was a retired member of the Teamster's Union Local 120 St. Paul, with 27 years of service. Bob was a greens keeper for 22 years at the Mille Lacs Golf Resort. He was a member of the Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church, Garrison, and was past commander of the Garrison VFW and Color Guard member.
He is survived by dear friend, Arleen Johnson, of Garrison; two daughters, Shannon (William) Baker, of Arden Hills, and Sheila (Randy) Williams, of Bullhead City, Ariz.; one brother, Donald (Lorraine) Murch, of Glencoe; one sister, Maize Smart, of Bemidji; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Lyla in 1983; one son, Brad; great-grandson Korey Shawn Manning; three brothers; and one sister.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Thursday at Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church in Garrison. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Friends may call on Thursday one hour prior to the service. Military honors will be given by the Garrison VFW.
