HANCOCK, Mich. -- Ella Sophia Jouppe, 90, died March 26, 2005, in Hancock, Mich.
She was born May 3, 1914, in Gackle, N.D., to Fred and Hilma Scheffler. She attended Normal training for teachers after high school. Ella later lived in Aitkin and Minneapolis before moving to Hancock. She married Earl Jouppe on May 3, 1940. She worked at Donaldsons in Minneapolis for 25 years before retiring. Ella was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Hancock.
She is survived by sons, Ronald (Grace) Jouppe, Dennis (Anita) Jouppe; daughters, Loretta (Bob) Ruonavaara, Carolyn (Kenny) Niemi, and Kathleen (George) Homola, all of the Hancock area; son-in-law, Robert Ruonavaara, Kalispell, Mont.; 50 grandchildren; 133 great-grandchildren; sisters, Agnes Gabrielson, Casper, Wyo., Martha (Arthur) Koenen, Great Falls, Mont., and Helen (Edwin) Burgstaler, Aitkin; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter, Janet Ruonavaara; grandson, Jeffrey Homola; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Tillie Kiljonen, Emma Tibbetts and Flora Jewell; and brother, Arthur Scheffler.
Funeral services were held in Hancock, Mich. Burial was in Glen Haven Memorial Garden in Crystal, Minn.
