Council, commission meet in land use seminar

Members of the Brainerd City Council and the Brainerd Planning Commission met in a joint session for land use liability training with Bill Everett, associate administrator with the League Of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust.

The session lasted about two hours, and featured tips for avoiding land use claims, such as regularly reviewing land use controls, avoiding prejudging applications, developing hearing procedures and applying facts to law.

Present were council members Lucy Nesheim, Jim Dehen, Anne Nelson Fisher, Kelly Bevans, Mayor James Wallin and Mary Koep, who also is a planning commission member.

Planning commission members present were Nina Moss, Caron Long, Bob Sherman, Jan Lambert, James Uhlman and John Pecarich.
