Rummage sale
There will be a rummage sale from 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m. May 4 and 8 a.m.-1 p.m. May 5 at Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa, sponsored by Women of the ELCA.
Trinity potluck
Trinity Lutheran Church, Brainerd, will hold a potluck on the church grounds immediately following the 10 a.m. mortgage burning worship celebration May 6. Barbecued meat will be provided. Members and friends are invited to bring side dishes or desserts to share.
St. Paul's Episcopal Church
St. Paul's Episcopal Church will have an all-parish potluck following the 10:30 a.m. Holy Communion worship Sunday.
The United Thank Offering Sundays will be May 6 and 13. Women of St. Paul's participate in a nationwide giving that is used for mission building and grants to spread the gospel.
Blue Jean Sunday will be May 6. It's the annual all ages Clean Up Sunday after the 10:30 a.m. worship. Bring lawn tools or work indoors. Food will be served.
Rev. Charles Butler to speak
The Rev. Charles Butler, a retired Methodist minister from Rochester, will visit Park United Methodist Church in Brainerd on May 6. Butler was one of 10 people arrested for trespassing during protests staged outside the School of the Americas facilities at Fort Benning, Ga., in November 1999. He will speak at the 9:30 a.m. worship service and show a video and share his experiences at 11 a.m. in the church fellowship hall.

to speak
The Rev. Wayne Sawatsky, recently approved Assemblies of God missionary to Eurasia, will be a guest speaker at 6 p.m. Sunday at Brainerd Assembly of God Church.
Rummage and bake sale
The Ladies Guild of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes will host a spring rummage and bake sale from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. May 4 and 8 a.m. to noon May 5. Proceeds from the sale will be used to support various mission projects. Use the west side, lower level entrance.
'A Wing and a Prayer'

National Day of Prayer
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the National Day of Prayer. Everyone will meet at 12:15 p.m. Thursday at the flag pole in front of the courthouse in Brainerd. The theme this year is "One Nation Under God."

The Northeast District United Methodist Women spring meeting will be Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church in Mora. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. with coffee, muffins and a program at 9:15 a.m. Theme for the day is "Sabbath is a gift from God." Great River Strings Ensemble
The Great River Strings Ensemble will add a chorus for its final concert of the season, "Strings and Song." The concerts are 7:30 p.m. May 5 at the Cascade United Methodist Church in Deerwood, and 2 p.m. May 6 at St. James Catholic Church in Aitkin. Music will include "Laudate Dominum" by Mozart, sung in Latin, selections from "Phantom of the Opera" and three selections from Handel's "Messiah." Concerts are free and open to the public with donations accepted.
