AITKIN - The Cuyuna Rock, Gem and Mineral Society will be hosting the sixth annual Agate and Mineral Show from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 3 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 4 at the Aitkin High School on Highway 210.
In addition to agates and minerals from around the world, there will be a variety of offerings such as polished specimens, fossils, jewelry and gifts by top vendors from throughout the state. Special displays and demonstrations will be ongoing throughout the day. There will be a special Kid's Corner where children may dig for fossils and agates. In addition, a big tailgating section will be set up in the parking lot for buying, selling and trading your best stones.
The family event will help people learn how to identify agates, cut and polish your finds and the equipment used to turn rocks into gems.
There will be free admission, plus free entry for hourly door prize drawings and concessions on site.
