The Deerwood Lakes Lions will have their spring tea at 11 a.m. May 10 at Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood. Gloves, hats and pearls are optional. For more information call 678-3712 or 678-3836.

CWC DFL

The Crow Wing County DFL will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Brainerd Public Library.

Class of 1944

Class of 1944 will meet at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Northwind Grille. The group meets every fourth Monday of the month.

Friends for Choice

Friends For Choice will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at Northwest Pizza/Boardwalk Bread and Bagel to discuss current reproductive rights issues. For more information e-mail friendsforchoice@yahoo.com.

Moose activities

Taco night is 5:30 p.m. Build your own tacos with 10 different toppings, $1.50; Family dining will be Friday with BBQ ribs, steak sandwich, walleye and specials.

55 Alive Refresher four hour class

American Legion Auxiliary of Pine River will have a 55 Alive Refresher four hour class from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. May 5. Doors open at 7:30 a.m. Call 587-4824 to register.

Alpha Chapter No. 23 OES

Meeting will be 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Masonic Hall with a Hungarian meal at 6 p.m. Servers are Jackie Meyer and Ruth Mitchell.

Spring bazaar

The Women's Center will have a spring bazaar from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Park United Methodist Church. All proceeds will go to the Women's Center.

Alpha Delta Kappa

Alpha Delta Kappa met recently at the Brainerd Public Library. President Bonnie Cumberland led the business and read 10 reasons for attending ADK. Barb Risnes, a registered nurse at St. Joseph's Medical Center, spoke on diabetes. Michelle Ruen read the thought for the day. The minutes were read by Lucille Kirkeby. Treasurer's report was by Laura Larson. Discussion was held concerning the Founder's Day Luncheon which will be Sept. 24 at CLC. The MN State Conference will be in Rochester. The international convention will be in July in Dallas.

Axel and the Wheels to perform

There will be a fundraiser for the Morrison County Animal Humane Society from 8 p.m. to midnight Friday at the Pierz Ballroom. Beer, wine and set-ups available. Axel and the Wheels will perform. $5 cover charge. Door prizes, silent auction. All proceeds will go to MCAHS.

Volunteer recognition event

The Woodland Good Samaritan Village will recognize the efforts of the volunteers and Auxilians at Woodland from 3-5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Cuyuna Range Women's Club lunch

The Readers Theater of the Grand Rapids Players will present the program for the Cuyuna Range Women's Club annual spring luncheon at 1 p.m. Saturday at Cascade United Methodist Church with the church women catering the meal.

All-you-can-eat fish fry

The 40ET8 will have an all-you-can-eat fish fry beginning at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Brainerd American Legion. Also on the menu will be tater tots, coleslaw, bun and coffee. Adults, $7.50; children under 12, $3.50. Support nurses training/youth activities.

Lois luncheon

The next luncheon of the Mille Lacs Area Central Minnesota Lois Club will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Carlsona Beach. The meal will be served at noon. Please call 927-1354 for your reservations. The only requirement is that your name is Lois.

Mission Possible Senior Club

The Mission Possible Senior Club will meet at noon May 7 at Central Lakes College. They will tour CLC. Lunch reservations needed. Call Wayne Abell at 562-4234. Will car pool from Mission Town Hall. Leaving at 11:15 a.m.

Live model horse show

Symphony Model Horse Stable is sponsoring a live model horse show Saturday at the Brainerd Elks Club to benefit the Mounted Eagles Therapeutic riding program. There will be halter and performance classes for both novice and experienced showers. Entry fees are $25 for novice exhibitors and $35 for open exhibitors. National Volunteer Recognition week

The dates of the Brainerd Area School Volunteer recognition events include 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nisswa for tea; 7:30-8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Lincoln for breakfast; and 7:30-9 a.m. Thursday at Baxter. Whittier was changed to 7:30-8:30 a.m. May 9 for breakfast.
