Gilbert Eigsberg

AITKIN -- Gilbert Eigsberg, 97, Aitkin, formerly of the East Lake area, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at Aicota Nursing Home in Aitkin.

He was born May 29, 1903, in Montevideo to Berger and Lena (Stratte) Eigsberg. He attended schools at Lac Qui Parle. He farmed in the Montevideo area. He married Evelyn Olson on July 3, 1940, in Watson. They lived in the Montevideo area until 1948 when they moved to the East Lake area near McGregor. He farmed, logged, was a store owner and bought wild rice. He had lived at the Aicota Nursing Home in Aitkin the last five years.

Survivors include a son, Gilbert Eigsberg Jr., Sturgeon Lake; a daughter, Linda Berg, McGregor; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

His wife; a brother, Bennie; and two sisters, Selma and Minnie, died earlier.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Tamarack Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John Yingling officiating. Burial will be in Baxter Cemetery in Dawson.

Friends may call an hour before services Sunday at the church.
