NISSWA -- A new school will open in June in the Brainerd lakes area.

Mid-Minnesota Hospitality School will offer courses at Grand View Lodge in Nisswa in food and beverage, golf course, lodging operations, sales and marketing, food sanitation and responsible service of alcoholic beverages.

Paul Welch, a veteran of the hospitality industry with more than 25 years of experience, is the dean of the non-profit school that is not an accredited institution.

"In 1989 I vowed to start a hospitality program in the Brainerd lakes area," he said. "You can't pick a better location to teach students skills that can be used in restaurants, motels, hotels and resorts. The mission of the school is to provide an education experience in a work environment."

The central campus is at Grand View Lodge Golf and Tennis Club in Nisswa. The one-and-a-half hour courses will be scheduled from June 1 to Aug. 17. A certificate will be given at time of completion.

For more information call Welch at 963-7352, extension 204.
