Brainerd youth baseball draft Monday

The Brainerd Parks and Recreation Department will have its youth baseball draft for Mustang, Bronco and Pony leagues on Monday at the Brainerd Public Utilities building.

The Mustang League draft will be at 6 p.m.; Bronco League draft at 6:30 p.m.; and Pony League draft at 7:15 p.m. Only head and assistant coaches may attend drafts.

Parents will be notified which team drafted their son or daughter.

Openings remain in all three leagues. Registrations are being taken at the parks and recreation office at Lum Park.

JV girl golfers win first CLC meet in two years

The Brainerd Warrior girls' junior varsity golf team won its first Central Lakes Conference Meet in two years Thursday at Pebble Lake Golf Club in Fergus Falls.

Brainerd shot a 211, led by Shannon Chalupsky's 50. Jenny Muesing and Katelyn Jindro each had 52s and Katie Lippo was the last scorer with a 57.

The Warriors' next meet is Tuesday at St .Cloud

JV softball wins

Brainerd blanked St. Cloud Tech 11-0 in junior varsity softball Thursday.

Winning pitcher Chelsie Manton had five strikeouts. Kylie Kunde was 1-for-2, Krista Bjork 2-2 and Zoe Houle 2-2 with a double for Brainerd (5-0).

JV tennis plays

The Brainerd Warriors junior varsity boys' tennis team won 11 matches against St. Cloud Apollo Friday.

Doubles winners were the teams of Gunner Askegaard-Ben Anderholm, Jake Eggen-Kush Patel, Trent Anderson-Ryan Goos, Michael Montgomery-Alec Haug, Ben Hermerding-David Adamson, Brendan Pelkey-Louis Grabowski and Wiley Radomski-Caleb Johnson.

Eggen, Cuyler Vanderwerker, Grabowski and Patel won singles matches.
