HACKENSACK -- Robert P. Kunde, age 86, of Hackensack, slipped away into the loving arms of Jesus on Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at his home.
He was born Feb. 28, 1919, in Olivia, Minn., to Robert W. and Gladys Kunde. He married Evelyn Meissner at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hackensack on Oct. 3, 1948. They lived in Hackensack for many years before moving to Duluth. They returned to Hackensack after retiring. Robert served in the Army during World War II, was a member of the American Legion Post No. 202 in Hackensack and was a very patriotic man. He was also an avid stamp and coin collector. To his family he was the best father, grandfather and father-in-law.
He is survived by his daughter, Doreen Montgomery (Lyle) of Duluth; sons Guy Kunde of Poplar, Wis., and Kevin Kunde (Shelly) of Proctor; brother Paul Kunde (Paula) of Backus; sisters Gina Presler (Jack) of Iowa, Florence Blankenship (Gilbert) of Backus; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; daughter, Darlene; and his parents.
Services will be 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Backus with Pastor Ronald Carnicom officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Backus. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church.
