DAVIE, Fla. (AP) -- Miami Dolphins guard James Wagstaff was listed in serious condition at Broward General Medical Center after a single-car accident early Thursday.

Wagstaff's SUV crashed on Interstate 595 in Davie, home of the Dolphins' training camp, at 4 a.m. EDT, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The 6-foot-4, 330-pound Wagstaff severely injured his left hand in the crash, a nursing supervisor said. His condition was upgraded from critical to serious Thursday morning.

Wagstaff, from Mecklenburg, N.C., is a first-year player with the Dolphins. He played at North Carolina from 1999-2001.
