Fund set up for Cuyuna man

CROSBY -- A fund has been set up for a Cuyuna man who lost his home in a fire April 16.

Contributions can be sent care of Gary Smith at Wells Fargo Bank, 221 Fourth St., Ironton, MN 56455.

Smith lost most of his possessions, including a large music collection, in the fire. He had no insurance, said Joe Ballard of the Crosby Police Department. Smith is living with his son until he can find a home.

The fire happened about 11:50 p.m. Ballard said it is believed the fire started in the bedroom. No one was injured in the fire.

Overkott fund established

BAXTER -- A fund has been set up to help pay hospital expenses for Richard Overkott, a 25-year-old Brainerd man who was severely injured in a car accident in Benton County in February.

Contributions can be sent care of Richard Overkott to Lakewood Bank, 1100 Highway 210 W., Baxter, MN 56425.

Overkott and three passengers, Jason Stephanie, 16, Curt Markkuola, 16, and Krista Tilbury, 20, all of Brainerd, were northbound on Highway 10 when their vehicle left the roadway, struck a driveway approach, vaulted and rolled over. The accident was reported at 12:37 a.m. Feb. 17.

Overkott is being treated at Bethesda Rehabilitation in St. Paul.

Blood drive set at Pequot Lakes School

PEQUOT LAKES -- An American Red Cross bloodmobile will be at the Pequot Lakes School from 1 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, an event sponsored by the Pequot Lakes High School Student Council and Lions Club.

Donors must be at least 17, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in good health. There is no upper age limit on giving blood.

Parks, Recreation Board to meet

The Brainerd Parks and Recreation Board will meet at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Brainerd City Hall.

Airport commission to meet Wednesday

The Brainerd-Crow Wing County Regional Airport Commission will meet 10 a.m. Wednesday in the airport conference room.
