BREEZY POINT -- Gov. Jesse Ventura will travel along County Road 11 between Pequot Lakes and Breezy Point for the Governor's Fishing Opener on May 12, and so the cities are looking for volunteers to help clean up the roadway before he arrives.
Sponsored by Hunt Technologies Inc. and the Pequot Lakes American Legion, groups of volunteers will start at the Legion and travel east on County Road 11 to Breezy Point, picking up debris and garbage in the ditches along the way May 5. They need more volunteers.
To help, meet at 9 a.m. May 5 at the Legion club in Pequot Lakes. Vests and garbage bags will be provided.
The Pelican Lake Conservation Club and many volunteers spent last Saturday cleaning up several roadways throughout Breezy Point.
Referendum rally May 1 in Pequot
PEQUOT LAKES -- The Vote Yes Twice team will host an event for Pequot area community members from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 1.
Dinner will be provided and the whole family is welcome to attend. There will be activities for school-aged children after dinner.
Those who attend will view a video and Powerpoint presentation on the upcoming Pequot Lakes School referendum. Informational booths will be available where people can talk to teachers, community members, board members and the school administration about the referendum.
Tours will be available to explain what the renovations to the current building would involve, as well as booths to see details about the renovations and what the new elementary school would look like.
The referendum vote is May 22.
Volunteers sought for Pequot Grad Blast
PEQUOT LAKES -- The Pequot Lakes Grad Blast Committee is seeking volunteers to help with the Grad Blast festivities the evening of May 27.
If you can't volunteer, financial contributions would be appreciated.
